anxiety
What is anxiety?
Anxiety is a persistent state of excessive worry, fear, or physical tension that can interfere with daily life. It may show up as restlessness, trouble concentrating, irritability, muscle tension, or sleep problems. While everyone feels anxious sometimes, anxiety disorders are more intense, longer-lasting, and affect work, school, relationships, and health.
Our Process
Consultation: A brief, judgment-free conversation to understand your main concerns, symptoms, history, and goals. We explain what to expect, outline timelines, and answer initial questions about care and privacy.
Assessment: A structured clinical interview plus validated screening tools (e.g., GAD measures) to clarify the type and severity of anxiety and identify triggers (stress, health issues, substances). We also review medical, family, and social history to spot contributing factors.
Examination: A psychiatrist evaluates for co-occurring conditions (depression, OCD, ADHD, trauma, sleep issues), medication effects, and physical causes (thyroid, anemia, side effects). If needed, we order labs or coordinate with your primary care provider to rule out medical drivers.
Treatment Planning: We create a personalized plan that may include psychotherapy (CBT, exposure, skills training), lifestyle strategies (sleep, exercise, stress management), and when appropriate medication options with clear benefits, risks, and monitoring. We set measurable goals, schedule follow-ups, and adjust care based on your progress.
